Some of my earliest memories are about flowers. My mother’s bed of pansies, the huge camellia bush where we picked corsages for Mother’s Day, and the Bachelor Buttons I planted in my father’s vegetable garden. As Georgia O’Keeffe said, “Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small”. Drawing flowers from my own garden makes me really look and discover their intricate forms.

This board journal has lovely thick pages and I made it interactive by cutting windows that framed details from subsequent pages. The flowers were drawn with Tombow felt tip markers, Prismacolor pencils, Inktense sticks, Pan Pastels, and acrylic paint. My own Artist Trading Cards and faux postage coupled with other collage elements complete each spread.
