About Me

Like many artists, Lynne Redmond started her art adventures with a box of crayons. That love of color is still evident in her work today. Lynne’s current mixed media creations reflect that joyful and uninhibited use of color. Now, as a professional artist, her supplies are more sophisticated, but her sense of playfulness and discovery have never wavered.

Lynne has a BA in Art with a concentration in painting and drawing from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. There she was exposed to many ideas and lots of art history. Lynne furthered her studies with Magda Mader, a Hungarian immigrant with a very classic and rigorous approach to art instruction. Mrs. Mader placed a strong emphasis on the basics like perspective, color theory, and anatomy. As an excellent teacher, she recognized Lynne’s strong graphic abilities and guided her on the path to her own distinctive style.

The main focus of Lynne’s current work is mixed media and collage. Each painting is unique, and utilizes a full arsenal of mediums – acrylic ink, watercolor, paint pens, collage, oil pastels, and watercolor pencils. She only uses high-quality artist’s materials – Daniel Smith Watercolors, Daler Rowney Acrylic Ink, Posca Paint Pens, Sennelier Oil Pastels, Derwent Watercolor Pencils, and archival papers. She loves the creative freedom that this mixed media approach gives her. Anything goes if it can be attached to the paper.

After 36 years, Lynne closed her embroidery digitizing business in 2023 and finally realized her dream of becoming a full-time artist. Having always lived a rich, creative life, now it can be done with more intention. Thoughts, energy, and especially time can be directed at creating artwork that express her unique vision.
